-To stay warm through the cold nights in Edo period Japan yogi, or sleeping kimono, were a necessity

-This kimono is almost entirely handmade of patches, and full of handstitching

-There are woven cottons, indigo dyed solid cotton, and the neck is made with a cotton velvet

-Neckline to hem - 51"

-Arm to arm - 48"

-These extra large kimono were worn by one or two people at a time, and while the upper classes often had yogi made of silk, the lower classes would patch together secondhand cotton to make these incredible patchwork garments
