DOWNSVILLE, WI  As a quilter, I’m always trying to make something I’ve never seen before. When I delved into medallions, my interest turned to creating circular focus points that weren’t expected.

I just taught my five-day workshop, Modern Medallion Mojo, at Woodland Ridge Retreat in rural Wisconsin.

There, I encouraged students to expand their ideas of what a medallion could be. I wanted them to set aside preconceived notions, and be playful and present with their piecing.

Everyone got into the groove!

Sometimes the best way to find your way to a new idea is to stop worrying about where you’re going. Just relax, make a little mess, and see what happens!
