LA CONNER WA When I post about a summer workshop in La Conner, no one wants to see photos of the picturesque waterfront. Or the pink sunsets. Or the happy group meals. Or the pop-up shop brimming with vintage Japanese textiles. Or the excursion to the local quilt museum. Or the beautiful gardens or herons overhead. No, it's all about the workshop projects!
The Workshop theme was Creativity, Curves & Compositions.
So here you go: The first project was the Quadrant Quilt where students made four big blocks, of their own design, with complex curves.
For the last two days of the Workshop, everyone moved to making a quilt design focusing on one big idea that incorporated curves. That meant thinking about their quilt compositions in a whole new way.
ABOUT US: Okan Arts, a petite family business, is co-owned by mother-daughter duo Patricia Belyea and Victoria Stone. Patricia and Victoria sell Japanese textiles online, host creative quilting experiences, and lead quilting & textile tours to Japan.
