LOS OSOS CA. Fifteen eager quilters joined me at Sea Pines Resort for a Creativity & Complex Curves Workshop last week.
The first project, the Quadrant Quilt, taught everyone how to make their own patterns and how to sew curves that were robust and flat.
The second project of the Retreat involved making a full composition with Straights & Curves. The participants, now Curve Masters, proceeded with aplomb.
One Curves Master made both projects coordinate for a super-quilt composition.
Not everyone worked on Complex Curves. Here’s a Curves Master who created an Inserted Curves project!
Los Osos means The Bears in Spanish. Bear sculptures abound in this charming coastal town in central California. Plus there’s a community mural about the first European expedition that encountered ferocious bears.
Although I didn’t see a real bear, I did find a real coffee shop in Los Osos — Ascendo Coffee.
One day, the caffeine demon goaded me into visiting Ascendo during class time! I was enjoying my latte in a new-leaf-green ceramic cup when I got an SOS text from a student. I hurried back knowing I was a very naughty teacher!
Los Osos provided a wonderful backdrop for our quilt retreat. And the folks who came made the experience fabulous!
