Quiltfolk Visits Patricia Belyea of Okan Arts
Photographer Asuree Holloway with her husband/assistant Trevor Holloway came to the Okanogan Highlands for a photo shoot with Patricia at her home and studio.
These images were published, with an article by Teresa Duryea Wong, in the Washington state issue of Quiltfolk.

The US Census Bureau defines The Frontier as an area with a population density of less than 2 people per square mile.
And that’s where Patricia Belyea is living these days—in Wauconda WA with the ground squirrels, deer, and bears.
It’s a big story — germinating seeds the size of a dot to growing plants with bright green leaves to extracting magical blue dye.
It was the second time that Patricia Belyea attempted to farm and harvest Japanese indigo at her highland home. And it worked — with a yield of 5 pounds of indigo dye!
