ABOVE The colorful yarns hanging in Ginger Twist Studio are dyed in-house.

EDINBURGH UK The day Victoria and I arrived in Edinburgh, the Edinburgh Marathon had taken over the streets. To avoid the traffic jams, we set out on foot toward the Abbeyhill area.
For half an hour, we strolled along streets lined with impressive sandstone buildings. Our destination was Ginger Twist Studio, a premium shop for yarn, dressmaking fabrics, and haberdashery.
Across the front window of Ginger Twist were the words: “It’s woolly good to see ewe.” Kathleen and Jess welcomed us into the amazing wonderland inside.
The front of the shop was bursting with luxury hand-dyed fibers, knitting patterns, and spinning supplies. Kathleen offered to bring down samples from the high hanging rod if we wanted to try anything on.

A doorway in the back led us into another room with a curated selection of fabrics, including Merchant & Mills.
Although I’m not a knitter, I can report that Ginger Twist is a Happy Place. Beyond the beautiful collections of goods, the welcome was warm and helpful. It was woolly good to visit!
