quizgard—mind-blowing textile art
By Patricia Belyea
LA CONNER WA Thick luscious yarns punch through stiff buckram, creating 3-D patterns of circles, squares, spirals and triangles.
Artist Liz Whitney Quisgard’s embroidery art boldly shouts from the walls of The Anne Brenaman Gallery at La Conner Quilt & Textile Musuem. Today the third floor of the historic home comes alive with color, texture and design.
Liz’s Byzantine-style textile art continues her six decades of work as a painter and sculptor. Outrageous and ebullient, the wall pieces range from squares to free-form shapes—crafted to look casual but masterminded to create impact.
The exhibit opened last Wednesday and will run through October 6.
