la conner’s new stitch shop

LA CONNER WA  Newly opened Indigo Stitch takes the cake as a specialty shop. Everything about it is special! Owner and quilter extraordinaire Sylvia Pippen filled Indigo Stitch with her signature products—stitch and appliqué kits, BOM projects, sashiko supplies, solid cottons, books, notions and more.

A nationally recognized teacher, Sylvia combines hand appliqué, contemporary and traditional sashiko designs, and perfectly toned fabrics in her detailed compositions. Flora, sea creatures and birds abound.

Mary Ann, one of Sylvia’s right-hand gals, warmly greeted me when I entered.

Inspiration surrounded me with a chair piled high with blue cyanotype-printed and stitched pillows, gorgeous projects hanging on the walls, and intriguing stitch products and kits on the shelves.

Although La Conner is a small town, it can be tricky finding Indigo Stitch. Here are two things to help you: One The shop is in the big building across the street from the Post Office. Two

This photo shows you that Indigo Stitch is in the southwest corner of Pier 7 (an unsigned building).

All of us love to getaway to La Conner and see the wonderful exhibits at Pacific Northwest Quilt and Fibers Arts Museum. So now, when you are in town, head down to First Street and visit with Sylvia, Mary Ann and the rest of the Indigo Stitch team.
