hitting the restart button
By Patricia Belyea
On Christmas Eve I worked my last day at Hansen Belyea, a branding and marketing firm I founded twenty-five years ago. The transition to new ownership takes effect on January 2, the first business day of the new year.
What’s next? Designing fabric. Importing yukata cottons. Making artisan quilts.
Wait! That’s what I have been doing for the last three years.
Now, instead of squeezing my quilting stuff in during the wee hours of the morning or after dinner or on the weekends—I can do it whenever I want. I have the freedom to spend a whole week working on one idea. Or staying up all night if I just can’t stop.
I hope that by being given the luxury of more time to do my quilt work that I will use my time creatively and productively. Ask me in a few months how it is going.
